The Life of Fr. Agnel D'Souza

Fr. Agnel D'Souza was a Pilar Father belonging to the Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier. He was born on 21st January 1869 and was the sixth among nine siblings.

From an early age, Fr. Agnel displayed remarkable intelligence and dedication to learning. His memory was extraordinary, allowing him to recall even the smallest details of what he had studied.

His deep love for God and education led him to teach Catechism even as a young boy, often guiding children older than himself.

Legacy in Education

“Fr. Agnel would not admonish his students, nor would he be annoyed by their mischief; he was ever a friend to them.”

Fr. Agnel believed that education was not merely the transmission of knowledge but the formation of character. His kindness, patience and personal example inspired generations of students.
